Pursuant to §404.420 of the California Masonic Code, you are hereby notified that
Worshipful Brother John Richard Heisner, a Past Master of Amity Lodge No. 442, has been
selected as the recommendee for election as Junior Grand Warden at the next Annual
Communication to be held in October of this year.

John Richard Heisner
Brother John Richard Heisner was raised a Master Mason in Eugene Lodge No. 11 under the
jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Oregon on March 5, 1969. He affiliated with Amity Lodge
No. 442 in San Diego in 1985. He served as Master of that lodge in 2004.
Brother Heisner’s service to the Grand Lodge began that same year. He served two terms on the
Grand Lodge Research Committee and two terms on the Jurispurdence Committee. For the last
five years, John has served as Inspector of the 909th Masonic District. Brother John is
completing a three-year term as a trustee of the Masonic Homes of California and he is a
member of the Public Schools Advisory Council in San Diego. John served as Grand Orator for
Most Worshipful Brother Frank Loui in 2012. He is also the author of four published books on
the subject of masonic symbolism.
Brother Heisner is a 33° Inspector General Honorary of the San Diego Scottish Rite Bodies and
he is a member of the Al Bahr Shriners. He is also a member of the San DiegoYork Rite Bodies,
the San Diego Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine, the Rosicrucian College and the
Southern California Past Masters Association.
John is a partner at Sullivan Hill Lewin Rez & Engel, a business litigation law firm in San Diego.
He serves as the chairman of the litigation department and as the chairman of the compensation
committee and the executive committee. John has conducted more than 100 jury trials, first as a
government prosecutor and then as a private practitioner. He has extensive experience in all
phases of complex litigation relating to business, trust and estates, government regulations, real
estate and intellectual property.
John is active in his community serving as a trustee for the San Diego Maritime Museum. He
was a member of the board of trustees of the St. Jude Hospital Foundation. He is a member of St.
Luke’s and Sacred Heart churches in San Diego. Additionally, John served as an Adjunct
Professor for the University of San Diego School of Law for fourteen years teaching trial
advocacy.
Brother Heisner lives in Coronado with his wife, Margo. He has four adult children and nine
grand children.
