Councillors' Freemason declaration secretly dropped by last IW Council

The need for Isle of Wight councillors to declare if they are Masons was explicitly written into the IW council's constitution in 2001. OnTheWight can reveal this practice was undone last Summer under the last Conservative administration. Why was it done?
