Haitian Donations of hard goods should go to the Dominican Grand Lodge (see below) but your charitable donations to the Salvation Army would serve as they are actively engaged in relief on the ground during all crises including this one.
The Salvation Army has 700 officers and staff permanently stationed in Haiti. They are quickly responding to the needs of people there. At this point, January 20, 2010, the organization has established a supply line from south Florida to Port au Prince to deliver aid and supplies to its disaster response teams, including more than 2 million meals by next week.
The provisions are enough to supply a family with five days of food.At the main Salvation Army compound in Port Au Prince, a 10,000 gallon water purification system is operational and serving survivors. (Note: The Salvation Army compound is 10 minutes from the Presidential Housing). More than 400 people have been given medical aid by Salvation Army doctors, nurses, paramedics and other specialists trained in medical care. For more information on progress, please, go to www.salvationarmyusa.org.
To make a donation to help the Salvation Army with it's operations for Haiti, please text the word "HAITI" to 52000 to donate $10.00-charges will appear on your phone bill.
You must confirm your donation by answering "YES" before exiting the program. Read the rest of this entry
